Rumor has it...you rock!
Kudos Mark Falcone - I would like to recognize the gentleman who operates the leaf and debris sweeper that maintains Marin Drive for his dedicated and conscientious service to our neighborhood. The latest storm left an inordinate amount of leaves in most sections of our community. I feel this employee should be lauded for the manner in which he consistently operates this large device, especially since there are more parked vehicles on our street as well as many others. Thank you. (Jim E.)
Corp Yard Crews - Big thank you for all the work this weekend to prevent flooding. It is very much appreciated. That was a lot of rain and I am sure a lot of work. I also heard that many neighbors on nextdoor that noticed extra diligence cleaning streets and storm drains so the extra work was noticed by others too and shared. (Linda H.)
Street Sweeper - Not sure if the person running the street sweeper down Occidental will ever see this, but I just wanted to say that I really appreciate the extra effort that you are putting in this morning. Foot by foot this operator is really making sure the street is spotless and there is a LOT of debris as I'm sure anyone could guess. Anyhow, your work was noticed and appreciated! (Jonathan S.)
Parks Staff - Thanks to Parks Staff for coming out to the property (California Dr) today and doing such a nice job. Congratulations on a job well done today! (Judy W.)
Shout Out to weekend Parks Staff for tidy restrooms - My husband and I went on a walk today and stopped by Cuernavaca Park. The restroom was so tidy! It sparked joy! I just wanted to acknowledge the janitorial staff. (Andrea)
Parks and Rec Kudos for Adult Softball - I tell college friends who live elsewhere in the US about this league and they all ask what it's like to live in Mayberry... We Burlingamers (and Millbrae / San Mateo who repped teams this time!) are all very lucky to live in such a community with such a robust and involved Parks & Rec. Thank for all your hard work. It's a great thing that's been created here...
Parks and Rec Kudos for Adult Softball - Thanks for arranging a great season, to everyone involved with making this go, especially the folks onsite every Tuesday evening running things. Scoreboard, stats, umpires, etc. really add a lot.
Kevin (P&R Adult Softball) - Spring Valley did have a blast! We'd love to keep playing next season. Thanks to Kevin and the rest of the staff for such a well-organized league. On to the playoffs!
P&R Muddy Mile - what an awesome time my family and I had at the muddy mile today. Every single person working the event was so kind, encouraging and genuinely happy to be there. We have never done this event before and I know my family and I will definitely register again next year. Thank you so much for a super fun event and such a nice group of people cheering on all the kiddos around the course.
Gina Borba - I wanted to recognize Gina Borba from the Parks & Rec department. Last fall, two of our street trees were removed for safety reasons, as we live right across the street from Pershing Park. Even though we were still in the middle of the pandemic, Gina was incredibly helpful in sending us an initial project letter, and then corresponding via email during the whole project. Gina kept us in the loop on target timing for the stump grinding for the trees that were removed and helped provide detailed and thorough information on options for the tree replacements. (Rachel B.)
Gratitude to the BPD for your recent response to a 911 call to our home. Your team responded quickly to a volatile situation and handled it in a professional, thorough and caring manner. From their initial response, to their follow up the next day, their care for the safety and well-being of all was immediately apparent.
We are truly grateful to Corporal Garrett Pene, Officers Jeff Schoenstein, Richard Scheno, Dan Forbes, Kimberly Marin, and Dispatchers Ena Perez and BJ Worden. We are particularly grateful to Officer Jeff Schoenstein for going above and beyond, even calling us the next day to check in. Thank you!
Kristine Herbert (citizen kudos) - I just wanted to let you know we had a great party! Thank you for your help with the reservation, and especially for walking me along the pathway to get to the area. All the guests loved the spot, as it felt very private. The kids had a great time with the open grassy areas, the bounce house, and the basketball courts nearby. That is the perfect spot for a party! I appreciate how quickly you replied to all of my emails, and were so friendly every time we communicated!
Rick Horne and Team (from Broadway Burlingame Business Improvement District) - "I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the great work you and your team have done for Broadway. The alleyway was completely pressure washed and also the sidewalks. It looks fantastic and also the parking spot that was opened up between ristorante Rocca and Il piccolo looks great."
Bob Disco and Tree Crew (citizen) - "Just wanted to say how pleased we are with the way the removal of the eucalyptus tree and repair of our fence by Burlingame workers. Bob was very diligent in getting the job done, I must say that each time he and city workers came they were so professional and did quality work. Very, very nice guys. After having been distressed about the tree being taken out and time it took to get the job finished, I am now totally satisfied with how it turned out and a big fan of our Burlingame employees. Hurray for Burlingame!"
Jesus Barajas (citizen Kudos) - Tree (Bush) at Bayswater & Park Roads "The gentleman [Jesus] did a very nice job, changing the "bush" to a tree and allowing easy sidewalk passage and a wider view of the street for pedestrians and vehicles."
A big thank you to the Library department for their warm welcome and tour of the Library for the HR Team! (from Sonya Morrison)
PBD (citizen Peter) - "Just had to make a shout-out to (former) Officer Bryson and everyone else that helps indoctrinate our youngsters to the great service delivered by the BPD. I found one of your "baseball" cards of Bryson and Ivan from 2009 in my 17-yr old Nathan's Cub Scout stuff and had to pass that find along to you. Thanks for all you do."
Robert Alden and Alfonse Aquino (from Rich Holtz) - "These gentlemen took the lead on a significant repair needed on our water service. The 2" line was buried under a slab foundation. Robert and Alfonse worked tirelessly to create an access point and repair the pipe. I was very impressed with their capabilities, clear communication and overall ownership of the issue. The efforts of your crew saved thousands of dollars and potentially days without water in the building for our staff. Thank you for sharing their talents and providing quality service."
Library - Just a quick note to say thank you to all the employees at the Burlingame Public Library. All throughout the curbside pickup days, my family has benefited so greatly from all the books and amazing service of all the librarians and staff. Since the library has opened, my kids and I have visited the library many times for hold pickups and every single time, we've had the most friendly and incredible "customer service" from every one of the employees we've encountered. It has created the nicest environment for my kids and also myself. A HUGE thank you from our family. (Erica B.)
